Job summary

  • Coordinate and support administration and coordination activities with project timelines, meetings, travel, and liaison with partners.
  • Assist in preparing and compiling project materials, reports, publications and presentations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders and facilitate effective communication.

About the opportunity

The Research Associate will provide administrative, project management and research support across a range of research initiatives. Working closely with researchers and project partners, the role will contribute to activities such as literature reviews, ethics application submissions, data management, stakeholder coordination, and research documentation.


A key focus of the position will be supporting the development of a collaborative research project involving researchers at the University of Sydney and external partners. The project explores the digital media cultures and literacies of young people involved in the justice system. The Research Associate will also contribute to other research projects at various stages of development.


Working under general supervision, the Research Associate will apply appropriate research and administrative process, plan and prioritise their workload, and support the delivery of project outcomes.


Your key responsibilities will be to:



  • provide research support across a range of activities, including literature reviews, ethics applications, fieldwork documentation, transcription review, and other research-related tasks as required

  • contribute to the development and submission of research ethics applications, helping to ensure the timely and effective delivery of research activities

  • coordinate and support administration and coordination activities in accordance with project timelines and objectives, including scheduling meetings, arranging travel and accommodation, processing Concur acquittals, and liaising with travellers, project partners, and other stakeholders

  • assist in the preparation and compilation of project materials, reports, publications, and presentations to support project delivery and reporting requirements

  • build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, facilitating effective communication, responding to enquiries, and supporting strong collaborative partnerships


About You


  • ability to develop and apply research skills, including conducting literature reviews and preparing research ethics submissions experience supporting or coordinating research projects, including fieldwork activities, project administration, and stakeholder engagement

  • excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality documentation and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders

  • strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail

  • demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment

  • experience working in a research-intensive and/or higher education environment will be highly regarded
