Job TitleResearch AssistantJob DescriptionAn exciting opportunity is available for a Research Assistant to join the Immunology Division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.About the PositionWe are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to provide technical and operational support to help to drive high-quality research and maximise laboratory productivity. Working as part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary team, the Research Assistant will contribute to innovative studies investigating how immune responses are shaped by immunotherapy and environmental stressors.Selection CriteriaPersonal Qualities:Good communication skills and the ability to work constructively within a team environment.Ability to work as part of a team using experimental protocols.Excellent attention to detail, ensuring that data, methods and theories are accurate, of high-quality and accessible to other researchers.Ability to manage time effectively and be reliable and approachable.Willing to take direction and have progress reviewed where required.Knowledge and skills:BSc with Honours in an appropriate area of study, or relevant experience.Demonstrated laboratory research experience (minimum 1 year).Basic computer skills and ability to accurately record data, results and the development of new methods and theories.Project management, excellent oral and written communication and reporting skills.Desirable Skills:Experience in animal handling and procedural work, including dosing, injections (intraperitoneal, intravenous and subcutaneous), physiological monitoring and tissue collectionExperience cellular, molecular and metabolic analyses using a range of techniques, including high-parameter and spectral flow cytometry, cell sorting, molecular biology assays and mammalian cell cultureExperience in analysing and interpreting biological datasets using platforms such as FlowJo, OMIQ, GraphPad Prism, R and Microsoft ExcelTerms of Appointment:This position is available for 2 years in a full time capacity. Salary is Research Support Employee Level 5 ($84,479 - $97,036).
