Job summary

NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water (DCCEEW) seeks a Remote Sensing Scientist (Data and Systems) to sustain computing infrastructure and data platforms underpinning NSW environmental monitoring programs.

You will work with satellite, aerial and geospatial data in the Waratah HPC environment, building automated pipelines and governance-focused data systems to deliver insights at scale.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in remote sensing, geospatial data analysis and environmental data science.
• Experience with geospatial, remote sensing and data processing technologies (QGIS, GDAL, PostgreSQL/PostGIS) and scripting (Python, Bash).
• Experience with Linux/HPC, workflow automation and data governance practices.

Responsibilities

• Support computing infrastructure, processing systems and data platforms for environmental monitoring.
• Process large-scale satellite, aerial and geospatial datasets and develop automated pipelines.
• Develop scripts/workflows to improve data management and reproducibility.
• Collaborate to deliver robust, scalable, well-governed systems and products.
