The Opportunity:

This is a Full Time, Fixed Term opportunity from 1 April 2026 until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.

This role leads the delivery and application of climate change projections to support the Department’s Climate Science Initiative (CSI) program. The CSI will produce the most comprehensive local climate change projections extending to the year 2100. These projections will help government, local communities and business understand and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

The CSI sits within the Climate Adaptation Branch of the Climate Change Division. The Branch is responsible for developing and delivering complex and innovative climate change adaptation policy initiatives across government to support the implementation of the Climate Adaptation Strategy. Its key objectives include coordinating state-wide implementation of the Strategy, providing climate adaptation advice to stakeholders, and collaborating with other Australian states, territories and the Commonwealth to adjust to the impacts of climate change.

This role requires leadership in the development and delivery of climate projection data to internal and external stakeholders, and uses highly analytical skills to research and design solutions with complex climate datasets.
