Job summary

Queensland Government seeks a Research Agronomist to provide strategic scientific support for North Queensland Farming Systems, developing and negotiating R&D projects with agencies and partners. The role involves field trials, data analysis, stakeholder engagement and dissemination of findings to improve productivity and water quality across Northern Queensland.

The position requires a degree in agricultural science or related field, a current C class licence, and willingness to travel, work

Qualifications

Relevant degree in agricultural science, applied science, rural science or related field.
Current C class driver's licence.
Willingness to travel, work out of hours and outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic support to North Queensland Farming Systems leadership to build a portfolio of R&D and extension projects.
Develop and negotiate new projects and funding with other agencies and bodies.
Build and maintain relationships with industry organisations, NRM bodies and government agencies.
Identify, develop, implement and evaluate field trial programs to improve practices and water quality outcomes.
Communicate research outcomes to stakeholders and support uptake of improved management practices.
Publish key findings and report impacts in line with department needs.
Supervise support staff and contribute to the team to meet milestones.
