Job summary

Carbonix is seeking a skilled Remote Pilot to join its operations team in Australia. The role focuses on conducting EVLOS and BVLOS missions, supporting mission planning and risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory and safety compliance within a professional flight crew.

You will collaborate with the Chief Remote Pilot and senior pilots, work on LiDAR and photogrammetry workflows, and travel nationally for client projects, with potential overseas assignments.

Qualifications

• Hold CASA RePL with sub-25kg rating and powered-lift desirable.
• Have AROC and strong EVLOS/BVLOS regulatory understanding.
• Experience with mission planning software and GIS tools.
• Familiar with Ardupilot or similar autopilot systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct EVLOS and BVLOS missions under supervision and guidance.
• Support mission planning, risk assessments, and long-range survey operations.
• Ensure compliance with CASA regulations, ReOC conditions, and safety systems.
• Assist the Chief Remote Pilot and senior pilots with documentation and safety reporting.
• Develop skills in advanced mission planning, LiDAR and photogrammetry workflows.
• Travel across Australia for flight operations and client projects, including overseas assignments when needed.

About the role

Carbonix is a leading Australian manufacturer and operator of long-range RPAS platforms for enterprise and government customers. We are seeking a skilled Remote Pilot to join our operations team. The role is ideal for candidates who hold the required licences and knowledge in advanced RPAS operations, but may not yet have extensive BVLOS experience. You will report directly to the Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) and operate as part of a professional, safety-focused flight crew.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct EVLOS and BVLOS missions with Carbonix RPAS platforms under supervision and guidance.
• Support mission planning, risk assessments, and execution of long-range survey operations.
• Operate in compliance with CASA regulations, company ReOC conditions, and safety management systems.
• Assist the CRP and senior pilots with operational documentation and safety reporting.
• Develop skills in advanced mission planning, LiDAR and photogrammetry survey workflows, and autopilot systems.
• Travel across Australia for flight operations and client projects, with occasional overseas assignments if required.

About you

• CASA RePL (sub-25kg rating) with powered-lift highly desirable.
• Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC).
• Sound knowledge of EVLOS/BVLOS operations and regulatory frameworks.
• Familiarity with mission planning software, GIS tools, and computer-based workflows.
• Willingness to travel for work.
• Must hold valid cars driver's licence.
• Must hold valid working rights in Australia.
• Highly desirable: RePL with Powered Lift category endorsement.
• Highly desirable: Knowledge of BVLOS SORA application processes.
• Highly desirable: Familiarity with Ardupilot or similar autopilot systems.
