Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a skilled payroll professional to join a high-performing payroll function in Australia. You will influence governance, drive continuous improvement, and safeguard payroll accuracy across a large, high-volume workforce.

You will conduct compliance testing, investigate discrepancies, monitor legislation and support audits, partnering with Payroll, HR, Legal, Audit and IT to strengthen controls and deliver timely compliance insights to leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Experience in large, complex, high-volume payroll environments.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct payroll compliance testing and transactional audits across payroll and time & attendance systems.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies and perform root cause analysis.
• Maintain and support payroll compliance and risk management frameworks.
• Monitor changes to Australian payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and superannuation obligations.
• Support internal and external audits through reporting and documentation.
• Analyse large payroll data sets to identify trends, anomalies and compliance risks.
• Partner with Payroll, HR, Legal, Audit and IT stakeholders.
• Drive process improvement initiatives and strengthen payroll controls.
• Produce compliance reporting and insights for leadership teams.
