Job summary

AFTRS is seeking a Lecturer in Radio and Podcasting for an ongoing part-time position (3 days/week). You will deliver practice-based teaching in radio and podcasting, provide formative feedback, and contribute to curriculum development.

The role involves course administration and collaboration with the Teaching & Learning team, under the Program Convenor’s direction. The successful applicant will have current radio industry experience, demonstrated teaching ability, and a commitment to inclusive

Qualifications

• Ability to meet the requirements of the Academic Employees Qualifications Policy.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, practice-based teaching aligned with approved learning outcomes, assess student work and provide constructive, timely feedback.
• Demonstrated professional experience in radio, with current knowledge of industry practices, workflows and technologies relevant to the teaching area, and the ability to apply this expertise to student learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach students in accordance with the approved curriculum, AFTRS Student Handbook and AFTRS Teaching and Learning Plan to achieve approved learning outcomes.
• Enter assessment grades and feedback into Moodle within the required timeframe.
• Engage in ongoing professional development as determined by the Program Convenor.
• Refer requests for special consideration, academic progression issues, reports of academic misconduct and other student-related matters to the relevant Program Convenor.
• Complete relevant administrative work, respond to student emails in a timely manner and participate in relevant course and discipline meetings.
• Participate in committees, review boards and panels dealing with recruitment, content, student assessment and other student-related matters as required.
• Participate, when invited, in industry engagement or research projects within the allocated academic workload.
• Adhere to local procedures, particularly for student and course activities, and liaise with support areas within established procedures and timelines.
• There may be a requirement to undertake tasks outside the scope of the responsibilities listed to support the organisation.
