Job summary

ASX Group in Australia seeks an experienced Test Automation Engineer to design, implement and maintain automated tests for our trading platforms. You will work with Developers, Analysts and Stakeholders to ensure release readiness and high quality software.

You will contribute to CI/CD pipelines, toolchains, and test data strategies, with hands-on Java and Python automation, API testing, and BDD practices. Flexible, remote work options apply as part of our hybrid QE&T culture.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years’ experience in test automation or quality engineering in medium to large technology environments.
• Solid hands‑on Java automation experience, able to develop and maintain automated tests and frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Python and the ability to support or extend Python‑based automation assets.
• Good understanding of object‑oriented programming and maintainable automation design.
• Hands‑on API, integration and backend testing with tools like Postman, SoapUI, REST libraries.
• Experience with Cucumber, Gherkin or behaviour‑driven test automation approaches.
• Hands‑on experience using CI/CD pipelines and investigating failed automated test executions using Git/GitLab CI/CD.
• Good SQL capability for backend validation and data analysis.
• Good Linux/Unix command‑line capability and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence for test management and documentation.
• Ability to analyse requirements to identify test conditions, data needs and risks.
• Clear written and verbal communication with engineers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve automated tests, reusable components, utilities and execution assets.
• Support automated test execution within Git, GitLab CI/CD or equivalent delivery pipelines.
• Create and execute automated API, integration, regression, end-to-end and release verification tests for platform changes.
• Apply sound programming and automation design practices for maintainable test assets.
• Review requirements and designs for testability and automation opportunities.
• Validate order flow, market data, interfaces across protocols and data feeds.
• Prepare test data, check environment dependencies and support execution readiness.
• Investigate automation failures, defects, environment issues and data discrepancies.
• Document results and support release sign‑off activities for production readiness.
• Log, investigate and report defects with evidence and impact.
• Contribute to QE&T standards and reusable components.
• Use AI tools responsibly to improve productivity and outcomes.
• Assist other team members across test phases.
