Job summary

Walgett Shire Council is seeking an experienced Grants Specialist for a fulltime role (35 hours/week), with the flexibility of remote work and periodic onsite presence in Walgett or Lightning Ridge. The role covers researching, writing, managing grants, and ensuring compliance across full grant lifecycles.

A strong emphasis on delivering timely reporting and strategic alignment to council priorities is essential.

Qualifications

Experience preparing successful grant submissions in local government, government, not-for-profit, or other complex organisations.
Strong understanding of government funding programs, eligibility, and grant management obligations (milestones, acquittals, agreements).
Excellent writing, editing and research skills with ability to produce well-structured submissions under tight deadlines.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to liaise with internal project owners and external funding bodies.

Responsibilities

Identify funding opportunities and develop compelling proposals.
Manage the full lifecycle of grants from applications to acquittals and reporting.
Monitor grant performance and ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance.
Provide strategic advice on grant alignment to budgets and program goals.
