Job summary

Smart Working is seeking a Data Engineer to bring the data function in‑house, owning an existing data warehouse from a third party. The role is ~90% data engineering and 10% reporting, with occasional IT tasks, and no UI development.

You’ll work with data owners across the business, including operations and finance, to deliver reliable data solutions and communicate findings to leadership. This permanent, full‑time role operates in a remote-first model with UK hours for global alignment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience for the global Senior route.
• Advanced SQL skills with complex queries and debugging.
• 3+ years of production dbt experience and data warehouse modelling.
• Experience with ERP data pipelines and BigQuery ingestion.
• Ability to communicate with non‑technical stakeholders including CEO/directors.

Responsibilities

• Take over and run the existing data warehouse in‑house.
• Maintain and improve pipelines moving ERP data into the warehouse.
• Write and extend data models across staging, logic, marts, and reports.
• Read codebase and build new models with quality tests.
• Collaborate with Data Analyst and data owners; explain findings clearly.
