Alignerr is seeking a PhD-level Applied Physicist to challenge AI systems in understanding physical reality. This fully remote hourly contract invites researchers to design complex problems and author precise ground-truth solutions.

You will audit AI outputs for physical consistency, push models on conservation laws and boundary conditions, and provide expert feedback to improve reasoning. Flexible weekly hours and asynchronous work enable ongoing collaboration.

Qualifications

• PhD-level expertise in physics with ability to craft open-ended problems.
• Strong written communication in English for ground-truth solutions.
• Experience designing rigorous evaluation tasks for AI.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced physics problems for AI evaluation.
• Author ground-truth solutions with precise constants and units.
• Audit AI reasoning for adherence to physical laws.
• Provide feedback to improve model behavior on conservation laws.
• Cover domains: quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, thermodynamics, statistics, and classical mechanics.
