Job summary

Alignerr is seeking Software Engineers in Sydney to help train AI systems to think like developers by building, evaluating, and improving AI-generated code. You will work on-site? remotely.

This fully remote, hourly-contract role involves writing clean code, reviewing AI outputs, and providing expert feedback to shape safer, more reliable AI coding assistants. Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, or TypeScript, plus strong data-structures knowledge, is essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient in one or more programming languages and capable of reading, writing and reasoning about code clearly.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and systematic debugging abilities.
• Clear written communicator who can explain technical decisions plainly.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently without supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Write, debug, and optimize code across languages, frameworks, and domains.
• Review and evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, readability, and best practices.
• Identify bugs, logic errors, security issues, and performance bottlenecks in AI outputs.
• Provide structured, detailed feedback explaining why code works or doesn’t.
• Design challenging coding prompts and edge-case scenarios to stress-test AI capabilities.
• Compare and rank multiple AI-generated solutions based on engineering quality.
• Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule.
