We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced writers and editors with native-level English proficiency, strong editorial judgement, and expertise in evaluating written content for clarity, coherence, accuracy, grammar, structure, and tone to contribute to advanced AI training and text-quality evaluation initiatives.

Selected professionals will assess human and AI-generated writing, identify low-quality or artificial text patterns, provide constructive editorial feedback, and help improve the quality of datasets used for AI development. No prior AI experience is required; strong writing, editing, and content-evaluation expertise is the primary qualification.

Key Responsibilities

Writing Quality Evaluation

• Assess written content for clarity, coherence, and accuracy
• Evaluate whether text meets defined project quality standards
• Identify weak reasoning, unclear phrasing, or ineffective communication
• Review content for consistency and overall readability
• Apply strong editorial judgement across varied writing samples

Editing & Language Review

• Edit documents for grammar, syntax, and sentence structure
• Evaluate tone and suitability for the intended context
• Identify awkward, repetitive, or unnatural language
• Improve precision without changing intended meaning
• Maintain consistently high English-language standards

AI-Generated Content Assessment

• Review and annotate AI-generated written content
• Identify low-quality or artificial text patterns
• Detect repetitive, generic, or poorly constructed responses
• Distinguish nuanced differences between human and AI-generated writing
• Provide specific feedback explaining quality concerns

Editorial Feedback & Dataset Quality

• Conduct detailed writing evaluations
• Provide constructive and actionable editorial feedback
• Produce written analyses supporting evaluation decisions
• Recommend improvements to content-quality standards
• Contribute insights that strengthen AI training datasets

Remote Collaboration & Delivery

• Collaborate asynchronously with project coordinators and specialists
• Communicate editorial findings clearly and professionally
• Complete assignments within defined project timelines
• Maintain consistency across repeated evaluation tasks
• Organise workload effectively across remote project workflows

Ideal Profile

• Proven professional experience in writing, editing, or text evaluation
• Native-level proficiency in English
• Exceptional command of grammar, syntax, structure, and tone
• Strong editorial judgement and attention to detail
• Ability to assess clarity, coherence, accuracy, and overall content quality
• Experience providing constructive written feedback
• Ability to recognise subtle differences between human and AI-generated text
• Prior content-assessment, editorial-review, or quality-assurance experience is valuable
• Bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics, or a related discipline is advantageous
• Previous English-language teaching experience is also relevant
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
• Comfortable completing structured assignments independently
• Able to collaborate effectively in a remote environment
• Availability within Australia / New Zealand time zones is preferred for project coverage
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor engagement
• Fully remote
• Compensation: $20–$70/hour
• Availability in Australia / New Zealand time zones is preferred
• Work will involve writing evaluation, editing, AI-generated content review, annotation, and editorial feedback
• Assignments may cover grammar, syntax, structure, tone, clarity, coherence, and content accuracy
• Contributors may be asked to identify low-quality or artificial characteristics in AI-generated writing
• Strong English-language proficiency and editorial judgement are central to the engagement
• Written analyses and recommendations may form part of project deliverables
• Assignments must be completed within defined timelines with consistent quality
• Project materials and evaluation criteria may evolve depending on project requirements
• Work must be completed without using confidential, proprietary, unpublished, client-restricted, or otherwise protected content belonging to any employer, client, publisher, institution, or other third party
