NES Fircroft is partnered with a world leader in mining who is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer for an initial 6-month contract position based on-site in central Queensland.

The role will play a critical part in enhancing operational efficiency and asset performance on underground mobile equipment. In this role, you will take ownership of reliability initiatives, collaborating with key stakeholders to identify issues, develop data-driven solutions, and implement long-term improvements.

About the role

Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1. Lead defect elimination initiatives, identifying and resolving issues to enhance operational efficiency
2. Facilitate and mentor teams in structured problem-solving techniques
3. Analyze performance data to uncover reliability challenges and implement data-driven solutions
4. Develop and execute long-term reliability strategies, ensuring improvements in asset performance
5. Support projects focused on reducing emissions and increasing energy efficiency site-wide
6. Demonstrate strategic thinking, leadership, and negotiation skills to drive impactful solutions
7. Work autonomously within a cross-functional environment

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

1. Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
2. Previous experience with HME mining equipment, either open cut or underground
3. Proven experience in asset management and reliability engineering, including defect elimination and lifecycle planning
4. Strong ability to think beyond technical solutions and drive commercial outcomes
5. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
6. Experience working in an industrial environment
7. Strong analytical skills with expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies
