Job summary

Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia is seeking an experienced Remote Community Enrolled Nurse to deliver high-quality nursing care across remote South Australia. You will work under supervision, consult with patients and families, and support a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement and evaluate care in remote clinics.

The role requires 2.5+ years post-graduate experience, APHRA registration, and ALS/ILs readiness. Accommodation provided; drivers licence and 4WD experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Registered Enrolled Nurse with APHRA and current practising certificate.
  • 2.5+ years post-graduate experience in nursing.
  • Experience in rural health facilities or emergency/primary care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide afterhours emergency first response when required in remote clinics.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to plan and evaluate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate records compliant with standards and regulations.
  • Deliver care independently and in partnership with RN in remote settings.

The RFDS SA/NT operates four Remote Community Health Clinics in South Australia at Andamooka, Innamincka, Marla and Marree, providing these communities with 24/7 care.

About this Opportunity

As a Remote Community Enrolled Nurse, you will be inspired to provide high quality, culturally appropriate nursing care for patients within a remote healthcare environment across both primary and emergency healthcare, under the direct supervision of a Remote Area Nurse.

You will be motivated to consult with healthcare recipients, their families and community as well as registered nurses, midwives and other health professionals, to assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care to patients across remote South Australia.

These positions are based in multiple locations throughout rural South Australia and accommodation is provided whilst on shift.

Specifically, you will:
  • Provide afterhours emergency first response when required, which includes driving the RFDS SA/NT remote clinic ambulance and assisting the Remote Area Registered Nurse in the provision of emergency scene response and patient care – within the scope of Enrolled Nurse Practice.
  • Interact with other members of the multidisciplinary Health Care Team to plan and evaluate patient/client care progress.
  • Maintain accountability delivering remote healthcare within NMBA and own standards.
  • Maintain accurate and legible records to enable ongoing safe patient care, documented in accordance with RFDS SA/NT and SA Health standards.
About You

You are:

  • An experienced Enrolled Nurse with an adventurous spirit who enjoys making a positive difference to the health outcomes of individuals living in remote and rural communities.
  • An excellent communicator who can easily relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures.
  • A highly organised individual with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • An enthusiastic and compassionate professional, who can remain calm and solve problems in complex situations.
  • A minimum 2.5 years post graduate experience as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • A minimum 6 months post graduate experience in a rural health facility which includes an accident and emergency department or 6 months post graduate experience in a primary care or correctional healthcare facility.
  • Current registration with APHRA as an Enrolled nurse. Your current practising certificate is without notation ‘Does not hold Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines. (Enrolled Nurses with this notation will be unable to be considered for this position).
  • Basic Life Support and/or Intermediate Life Support, with evidence of enrolment in - or completion of - Advanced Life Support.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively and effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • A current and valid drivers licence, issued from an Australian state or territory.
  • Experience with driving a manual 4WD vehicle.
