Job summary

Icon Group’s Icon Cancer Centre Adelaide, SA, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join a growing, research-focused cancer care team and provide specialist oncology nursing care to patients. The role is permanent with part-time or full-time options and flexible hours, located at the Tennyson Centre, Kurralta Park, Adelaide.

Qualifications

  • Hold current registration with AHPRA.
  • Recent experience in Oncology Nursing desirable but not essential; training will be provided on induction (surgical nursing also highly regarded).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the provision of exceptional patient care.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the delivery of high-quality patient care and service.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute expert advice and demonstrate contemporary nursing knowledge and skill in oncology nursing practice.
  • Monitor and administer medication and intravenous infusions.
  • Patient assessment, observation and education including management of treatment side effects.
  • Inserting and care of peripheral and central access devices.
  • Assist doctors with procedures and provide pre/post procedure care and education.
  • Maintain and update patients' written and electronic records.
  • Provide emotional support to patients, families and carers.
  • Support the Nurse Manager in daily operations.
  • Support a high-performance culture delivering quality patient care through collaboration.

The Opportunity:

We have a new opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team on a permanent part-timeor full-time basis. Located at our Cancer Centre at the Tennyson Centre in Kurralta Park, this role reports to the Nurse Unit Manager and Site Manager and is responsible for providing medical oncology nursing care to our patients. Our clinic hours are 8am – 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute expert advice and demonstrate contemporary nursing knowledge and skill in oncology nursing practice in accordance with current legislation and professional standards and codes of practice
  • Monitoring and administering medication and intravenous infusions
  • Patient assessment, observation and education including expert management of treatment related side effects
  • Inserting and care of peripheral and central access devices
  • Assisting doctors with procedures and providing pre and post procedure care and education
  • Maintaining and updating patients written and electronic records
  • Providing emotional support to patients, families and carers
  • Support the Nurse Manager in the day-to-day operations
  • Support a high-performance culture that delivers quality patient care services through a patient centric and collaborative approach
