Job summary

Aussie Locums is seeking a Locum Registered Nurse for Mackay Base Hospital in Mackay, QLD. This Nurse Bank contract runs 28 July–31 August 2025, with shifts across multiple wards. Travel and accommodation are provided.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of recent medical/surgical experience, enjoy working across specialties, and hold current clinical competencies including BLS and infection control. Onboarding includes ieMR training and online induction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a medical and/or surgical setting.
• Confidence working across multiple specialties and clinical areas.
• Current clinical competency with a commitment to delivering high standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential support across multiple wards, filling daily service delivery gaps.
• Flexibility to be rostered to work in G2 and F2 Medical Wards, F0 Orthopaedic Ward, G0 Acute Assessment, Stroke and Medical Unit and GSU.
• Contribute to high-quality patient care in a locum Nurse Bank role.

About the Role

Join the Nurse Bank team and provide essential support across several wards, filling daily service delivery gaps. Your flexibility will be key as you may be rostered to work in:

• G2 and F2 Medical Wards
• F0 Orthopaedic Ward
• G0 Acute Assessment, Stroke and Medical Unit
• General Surgical Unit (GSU)

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a medical and/or surgical setting
• Confidence working across multiple specialties and clinical areas
• Current clinical competency with a commitment to delivering high standards of care

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with QLD Health and/or Mackay HHS
• Knowledge and experience using ieMR
• Currency in BLS, manual handling, infection control, medication management, mandatory reporting, and aggression management

Onboarding Requirements

You must be willing to complete:

• ieMR training
• Online induction
• Any additional training requested by Mackay HHS
