Job summary

The GEO Group’s GEO Healthcare division is seeking Registered Nurses for Night shifts at the Metropolitan Remand Centre in Victoria. You will provide primary health care to men in public prisons, delivering evidence-based nursing care within a secure prison environment.

Roles include Full Time and Part Time placements on rotating rosters. The package features base salary with loadings and allowances, generous leave and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Appropriate nursing qualifications and current registration with AHPRA.
• Minimum one year of post-registration clinical experience.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision and coordinate patient care.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic computer literacy.
• Experience in primary health care is desirable.

About the roles

GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public Prisons across Victoria.

Nurses employed by GEO Healthcare work to deliver high-quality patient care to men in Victoria's public prisons. Nurses deliver health services which enhance and promote the health of people in prison through evidenced base, comprehensive and professional nursing care within a prison setting.

Opportunities exist for Full Time and Part Time (rotating rosters) at Metropolitan Remand Centre.

Nursing Staff will be employed under the terms of an Enterprise Agreement. Terms and conditions provided by this Agreement include:

• Registered Nurse salary range $80,559.60k - $110,592.17k. (Based on Full Time)
• Annual increments to salary for Enrolled and Registered nurses
• Competitive Shift and Weekend Allowances.
• Generous annual leave, long service leave and ‘continuing professional development’ leave benefits.

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential

• Appropriate nursing qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
• Minimum one years of post-registration clinical experience.
• Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing the role.
• Ability to plan and coordinate patient care.
• Competence in clinical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work within multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to contribute to the professional practice within the health facility.
• Competence in written and verbal communication skills. Basic level of computer literacy.
• Clinical experience in a primary health care is desirable.

Other Requirements of the role

• Valid Australian driver’s licence.
• Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
• Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
