Job summary

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is seeking a Registered Nurse to support life-giving donations in Newcastle. You will greet donors, conduct eligibility checks, and oversee collection procedures to ensure safe, efficient donations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) with current AHPRA registration.
• Experience in donor care or clinical setting preferred.
• Occasional lifting 9–22.7 kg and other physical requirements listed in role description.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interview potential donors to assess eligibility and suitability.
• Provide clinical oversight and guide the team in the blood collection process.
• Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests.
• Set up machines and donor collection equipment.
• Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets.
• Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and assistance.
• Monitor donors post-donation and assist with rebooking for next donation.
