Job summary

Anglicare NT’s headspace service is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to join a well-established multidisciplinary mental health team. You will work with young people and their families to support those experiencing or at risk of psychosis, under supervision of senior clinicians.

You will conduct health assessments, administer depot medications, and provide psychoeducation while maintaining high-quality documentation and care coordination.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Experience in mental health nursing and/or physical and sexual health care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with young people and families.
  • Commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by youth at risk or with first episode psychosis.
  • Experience undertaking health assessments, medication administration and health monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver physical and sexual health assessments, screening and interventions.
  • Administer and monitor prescribed depot medications.
  • Conduct metabolic screening and ongoing health monitoring.
  • Provide psychoeducation on mental, physical and sexual wellbeing.
  • Coordinate referrals and access to health services including GPs and specialists.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic health records.
  • Collaborate with young people, families and the multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care.

About the Opportunity

Note: This is a part-time position (3 days per week)

As Registered Nurse at headspace you will have the opportunity to work within a well-established multidisciplinary mental health team. You will be supported by the Program Manager, Clinical Director and experienced clinicians while contributing to positive outcomes for young people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, psychosis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with young people, families and multidisciplinary team members to deliver person-centred care
To be successful you will have:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing and/or physical and sexual health care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with young people and families.
  • A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and families.
  • Knowledge of the challenges experienced by young people who are at risk of, or experiencing, first episode psychosis.
  • Experience undertaking health assessments, medication administration and health monitoring activities.
