Job summary

Respect Autumn Lodge seeks a Registered Nurse to join their supportive team in a casual capacity. You will provide safe, contemporary clinical nursing care to residents under AHPRA guidelines and report to the Care Manager and General Manager.

The role emphasizes high documentation standards and patient-centered care. You will engage in admissions assessments, care planning, and direct clinical tasks, including medication administration and GP co-ordination, within a not-for-profit aged care

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA and ability to practice as an RN.
• Strong documentation skills with accurate record-keeping.
• Knowledge of aged care standards and funding instruments.
• Compliance with Aged Care Worker Screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Gather resident histories from residents or families and participate in admissions and assessments.
• Maintain high-quality documentation reflecting care delivery.
• Develop, implement and evaluate resident care plans and assist with admissions assessments.
• Provide direct clinical care including personal hygiene, pain management and GP rounds as needed.
• Administer medications and manage ordering, storage and documentation per policy.

About the Role:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible to provide safe, competent and contemporary clinical nursing care to residents within the scope of practice as determined by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). On a day to day basis this position shall report to the Care Manager and General Manager. Indirect reports shall include other organisational management representatives.

Key Duties

• Compile a comprehensive history from residents and/or family members to identify care needs by participating in resident admissions and ongoing assessments.
• Maintain a high level of documentation which accurately reflects care delivery.
• Develop, implement and regularly evaluate resident care plans as directed and assist with resident admission assessments.
• Assist with the direct clinical care of residents as required, which may include but not limited to personal hygiene, massage therapy, pain management and GP rounds.
• Administer medications to residents and assume responsibility for correct ordering, storage and documentation procedures in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Essential Requirements

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Knowledge of the Residential Classification Scale and Standards for Aged Care.
• Current National Police Certificate (or ability to acquire).
• Knowledge of the standards required by the government for the delivery of aged care.
• An understanding of the Commonwealth Aged Care Funding Instrument.
• Strong clinical and documentation skills.
• An understanding of the aged care accreditation process.
• To be considered for employment with Respect, each candidate must satisfy the legislative requirements of Aged Care Worker Screening to ensure suitability to work in the aged care industry.
