Job summary

This Shire in regional Western Australia seeks a highly capable Manager Strategic & Statutory Planning to lead land-use planning and drive long-term strategy in a growing, mining-influenced region. Qualifications

• Degree in Urban and Regional Planning required; recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in strategic land-use planning, preferably in local government.
• Strong knowledge of WA planning legislation, Local Planning Schemes and Crown land administration.
• Ability to assess complex applications and provide clear, defensible reports to Council.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level strategic and statutory planning leadership across the Shire.
• Develop and implement planning strategies to support future land use and economic development.
• Assess, report and recommend on complex land development and land-use applications.
• Lead amendments to the Local Planning Scheme and high-level strategic proposals for Council.
• Manage Crown land, environmental and mining-related planning matters.
• Provide expert advice to elected members, staff and external stakeholders.
• Represent the Shire at the State Administrative Tribunal when required.
• Ensure planning processes are efficient, consistent and aligned with best practice.
