Job summary

WaterNSW is seeking an experienced Regional Project Manager - Electrical to lead delivery of essential electrical infrastructure projects across NSW. You will act as client-side technical lead, manage contracts and stakeholders, and drive projects from concept to handover with safety and quality at the forefront.

The role supports a hybrid working model, with offices around Warragamba Dam or Nepean Depot, and offers development opportunities within Built Infrastructure's Regional Operations

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Project Management or Electrical Engineering or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Proven experience delivering water infrastructure asset-based projects.
• Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders to meet objectives.
• Ability to plan work and deploy resources to meet business goals.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on the full project lifecycle from initiation to close to improve safety, manage risk and reduce cost.

As a Regional Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of essential infrastructure projects that help secure and sustain water resources for communities across NSW. Working across a portfolio of asset renewal projects, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors and stakeholders and oversee project execution from planning through to completion. Why this role is different:

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to combine technical expertise with project leadership. You'll act as both the client-side technical lead and project manager, driving electrical infrastructure projects from concept to handover while remaining actively involved in design reviews, technical decision-making, risk management and commissioning.

What you'll do:

• Project Management: Deliver on all aspects of the project life cycle from initiation, planning, execution and closing to improve safety, avoid risk and reduce cost.
• Solutions: Identify, monitor and present options with key stakeholders in the appropriate manner to ensure successful delivery of the project outcomes and implement the best solution to meet project outcomes.
• Contracts & Engagement: Ensure the method of engaging contractors is suitable, clear and sufficient to reduce risk, is in accordance with WaterNSW policy and delivers value for money. Ensure appropriate and relevant internal and external stakeholders are effectively briefed, available and engaged in a timely manner to enable effective and efficient project delivery.
• Design: Oversee design processes to ensure relevant specifications and standards are met. Lead design review meetings and include relevant stakeholders to ensure risks are identified and addressed.
• Project Monitoring: Regularly monitor project work against agreed milestones and budgets and adequately supervise site works to ensure safety, environmental and quality aspects meet or exceed requirements.

What we are looking for:

• Tertiary Qualification in Project Management or Electrical Engineering or demonstrated equivalent electrical engineering experience in the delivery of water infrastructure asset-based projects.
• Proven experience in managing projects, design process and site-based experience managing construction activities and contractors.
• Proven experience engaging with key internal and external stakeholders to identify needs, address issues and ensure objectives are understood and met.
• Demonstrated background in planning work and deploying resources to deliver business goals.
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering design principles and can interpret project / engineering documentation such as specifications and drawings.
• Commercial acumen and demonstrated experience to identify benefits, opportunities and trade-offs to be made when formulating and executing business cases, project plans and contract negotiations.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence.
