Job summary

CSIRO in Darwin, NT, seeks a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to support NT/FNQ sites. You will deliver HSE services on-site and regionally, providing practical and technical advice to diverse stakeholders and building capability through education and coaching.

The role requires travel across NT/FNQ sites, a strong emphasis on training, and collaboration with leaders to strengthen safety culture.

Qualifications

• A relevant trade certificate (eg. Cert 4 in Work Health and Safety) or equivalent relevant work experience in Health, Safety & Environment.
• Proven ability to collaborate with HSE staff and key stakeholders to foster a positive safety culture and build strong relationships.
• Experience designing, delivering and evaluating communication strategies to ensure consistent messaging across the organisation.
• Proven ability to interpret legislation and regulatory standards to identify issues and respond appropriately.
• Demonstrated experience in facility-focused health and safety across buildings, laboratories and operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver key HSE activities aligned to CSIRO’s HSE Plan across NT/FNQ sites.
• Provide practical, timely advice to leaders and teams on HSE risk management and safe systems of work.
• Facilitate audits, inspections and hazard identification, and follow up on improvements.
• Coach and educate staff through training and on-the-job guidance, strengthening capability and shared accountability for safety.
• Partner with facility and operational stakeholders to manage risks related to buildings, labs, and equipment.
