Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a seasoned engineer for the Region Services team in Australia. You will own operational tooling, drive automation, and mentor engineers, enabling Australia’s national security workloads at scale.

This role requires 5+ years in leading teams, 7+ years in systems engineering and networking, and deep AWS experience. You will work in a 24/7 on-call rotation and influence architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of managing system or software development teams experience
• 7+ years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative work in networking, storage systems, operating systems experience
• 7+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Responsibilities

• Own the operational heartbeat of one of Australia’s most ambitious cloud programmes.
• Design and deploy operational tooling that eliminates toil and transforms manual processes into elegant automation.
• As a technical leader, hire, develop, and mentor the engineers around you.
• Diagnose complex issues across interconnected systems and deliver resolutions that restore confidence.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure reliability.
