Job summary

Downer is hiring a Refrigeration/HVAC Technician for the permanent workforce at RAAF Base Richmond. The role centers on maintaining refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC systems, with emphasis on fault diagnosis and proactive service.

Ideal candidates hold Certificate III Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, NSW Licence and consider ARCTick refrigerant handling desirable. A current driver’s licence and defence clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is required.
• NSW Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Licence is essential.
• ARCTick Refrigerant Handling licence is desirable.
• Post-trade experience in refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Defence security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled, preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC systems.
• Carry out refrigerant handling in accordance with ARCTick licensing obligations.
• Provide timely responses to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other trades and subcontractors to support operations.

Downer has been awarded the Property and Asset Services (PAS) contract to deliver base and estate services across their two largest regions NSW/ACT and QLD. This is a significant milestone for our business and our enduring 80+ year relationship with the Australian Defence Force.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Perform scheduled, preventative and corrective maintenance on refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC systems.
• Carry out refrigerant handling in accordance with ARCTick licensing obligations
• Provide professional and timely responses to internal and external stakeholders
• Work collaboratively with other trades and subcontracts to support operational delivery

• Post-trade experience in refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC maintenance
• Demonstrated expertise in fault diagnosis and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems
• Current Open Drivers Licence
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship is mandatory).
