Job summary

Glencore Australia is seeking a Mechanical Fitter for our Townsville Copper Refinery Maintenance team. The role operates on a 4 on, 4 off day-shift roster and is a residential Townsville position, avoiding FIFO travel and enabling a balanced North Queensland lifestyle.

You will carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance across refinery fixed plant equipment, with fault-finding, repairs and overhauls aimed at maximizing plant availability.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with experience in heavy industry.
• Experience in heavy industry or manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Sound communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Current Australian manual driver's licence.

Responsibilities

About The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter within the Copper Refinery Maintenance team, you'll play an important role in keeping our operation running safely and reliably. Reporting to the Maintenance Shift Supervisor, you'll work across a wide range of fixed plant equipment, carrying out preventative maintenance, fault-finding and repairs to maximise plant availability and reliability. This role offers excellent exposure to complex industrial equipment while allowing you to further develop your trade skills within a supportive and safety-focused team environment.
