Medical Equipment Engineering Supervisor | Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust

We are seeking an experienced and motivatedMedical Equipment Engineer Supervisorto join our Medical Devices Management Team based in Wakefield.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical equipment professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role. As a key member of the Medical Devices Management Team, you will contribute to the strategic management and development of the department while ensuring the delivery of a safe, effective, and high-quality medical equipment service across the Trust.

Working closely with the Medical Devices Manager, you will play a vital role in developing and improving the services provided by the department, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, statutory requirements, and technical guidance.

The Medical Devices Management Department support the procurement, maintenance, management, and safety of medical devices across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

As the Medical Equipment Engineer Supervisor, you will:

  • Provide effective leadership and day-to-day management of the Equipment Engineering section.
  • Support the Medical Devices Manager in the operational and strategic management of the department.
  • Ensure departmental strategies, policies, and standard operating procedures are implemented and maintained.
  • Act as the Professional Supervisor for the Medical Devices Management Department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality medical equipment service.
  • Oversee the safe procurement, maintenance, management, and lifecycle of medical devices throughout the Trust.
  • Ensure robust systems are in place to minimise risks associated with the acquisition, maintenance, and use of medical devices.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, MHRA guidance, statutory requirements, and technical standards.
  • Provide specialist advice to the Medical Devices Management Team, Trust Procurement Group, Vehicle and Trust Procurement Group, and other Trust committees on all matters relating to medical devices.
  • Lead on incident reporting relating to medical devices and liaise with the Health, Safety and Risk Department regarding MHRA safety alerts, adverse incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Manage staff performance, appraisals, training, development, and personnel matters within the engineering team.
  • Promote continuous service improvement and support quality assurance initiatives.
