Job summary

Parks Victoria is seeking a Ranger at Yarra Bend to deliver on-ground conservation, visitor management, and asset maintenance within a collaborative team. The role focuses on protecting natural and cultural values while supporting park visitors in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

You will contribute to conservation programs, infrastructure maintenance, compliance activities and community engagement, with weekend work and some long-distance driving as required.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation or land management.
• Experience delivering routine and moderately complex on-ground services as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Teamwork and integrity, accountability and professionalism.
• Problem-solving and ability to identify operational improvements.
• Experience working with the public, volunteers and park users.
• Current Victorian driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-ground land, conservation, infrastructure, asset and visitor management services and projects.
• Contribute to safe work practices and effectively identify and manage operational risks.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive team environment.
• Engage with the community, Traditional Owners, volunteers and park users.
• Apply judgement and initiative to resolve operational issues and identify improvements.
• Contribute to fire, emergency management and compliance operations as required.
