A statutory authority serving Aboriginal interests is seeking a Ranger Coordinator to lead the Wagiman Guwardagun Rangers in managing land and freshwater activities. The role includes supervising a team, ensuring effective service delivery, and integrating Traditional Owner insights. Applicants must have a Certificate IV in Conservation and relevant experience. This position prioritizes Aboriginal candidates.
The NLC is currently seeking an experienced Ranger Coordinator for our Wagiman Guwardagun Ranger group based at Lewin Springs, Pine Creek in the Katherine region. The Wagiman Guwardagun Rangers work on Aboriginal Land Trust lands to support Traditional Owners to manage and protect country. Together these land trust areas cover 130,000 hectares of country and include the Wagiman and Upper Daly Aboriginal Land Trusts. The ranger team works on fire, freshwater, weed and feral animal management, compliance activities plus biodiversity monitoring projects and cultural heritage protection works. The position is responsible for leading the Wagiman Ranger Group and ensuring the effective delivery of land and freshwater management activities, working collaboratively with CFC Program staff to ensure that the integration of Traditional Owner insights and WH&S standards are at the forefront of all land and sea management activities.
The Ranger Coordinator position is responsible for supervising, mentoring and developing local rangers to achieve the aspirations outlined in the Wagiman Healthy Country Plan 2024-2034. The position is responsible for the delivery and daily coordination monitoring and reporting for the Ranger group\'s operational service outcomes and performance in accordance with operational plans and NLC requirements.
Salary Package: $104,219 including 15% superannuation & district allowance
