Job summary

SMEC is seeking a Manager – Rail Systems to lead multidisciplinary rail systems integration, engineering assurance and project delivery in Sydney. You will guide signalling, train control and telecommunications across line-wide, station, tunnel and corridor environments.

The role requires 12+ years in rail systems, strong leadership, and professional registrations, with a focus on delivering on time and within budget while pursuing business opportunities and mentoring teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 12+ years of experience in rail systems engineering.
• Extensive rail industry knowledge across signalling, train control, telecommunications and complex rail systems integration.
• Professional registrations and memberships relevant to the rail industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across rail signalling, train control, telecommunications, SCADA and multidisciplinary systems integration.
• Coordinate with team members, contributors and stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery of project deliverables.
• Review complex rail systems designs and coordinate cross-disciplinary integration across signalling, electrical, civil and operations.
• Ensure engineering analysis and design activities comply with standards, specifications and client requirements.
• Lead design management and coordinate complex package interfaces for safe, reliable transport outcomes.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and identify opportunities for business growth.
• Mentor and develop electrical engineering teams and contribute to workforce development.
