Job summary

V/Line in Maryborough is seeking a Heavy Rail Plant Operator (WMC3) to maintain track and civil structures, operate medium to heavy plant and vehicles, and support rail maintenance projects.

Reporting to the Ganger, you’ll work outdoors across Victoria, travel and stay away when needed, and contribute to safety, quality and reliability of the rail network while enjoying job security and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current Heavy Rigid Truck Licence with plant operation competencies.
• Experience operating Excavator (>4.5t), Backhoe, Dump Truck, Loader.
• Heavy Combination Licence preferred.
• Cert II in Rail Infrastructure preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
• Track Awareness accreditation (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and quality work.
• Flexibility to work different shifts and travel when required.
• Aligned with V/Line values: safety, integrity, respect, accountability.

Responsibilities

• Replace or renew sleepers, rail, ballast, and crossing materials.
• Operate medium to heavy plant, trucks and equipment safely.
• Work across Victoria with potential overnight stays and varying shifts.
• Collaborate with team and contractors on rail maintenance projects.
• Follow safety and compliance standards to protect all.
