Job summary

ARTC is recruiting for a Network Controller in Newcastle to help manage train movements and protect workers, ensuring safe and reliable rail services across the network. No prior rail experience is required; transferable safety and teamwork skills are valued.

Successful applicants will undertake a Certificate IV in Rail Network Control (TLI40921) and join a 24/7 roster with structured training and support. Permanent and fixed-term full-time roles are available.

Qualifications

• Diverse backgrounds welcome, safety-focused mindset, adaptable to rail operations.
• Willingness to learn and pass training to qualify as Network Controller.
• Training pathway includes Certificate IV in Rail Network Control (TLI40921).

Responsibilities

• Safely control the movement of trains and track vehicles across designated sections.
• Coordinate rail traffic movements and maintenance access to ensure safe operation.
• Monitor train running and proactively manage conflicts or disruptions.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies following established procedures.
• Communicate clear instructions to train crews and stakeholders.
• Work with adjacent controllers and maintenance teams to support operations.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with rules and notices.
