Job summary

Gemco Rail Pty Ltd. in Rutherford, NSW, is seeking two experienced Boilermakers for casual roles to assess, prepare and repair rolling stock, including wagons, and overhaul wheelset bogies as required.

Primary duties include welding to finished state, component replacement, and fabricating parts per drawings, with a focus on safety and adherence to AS4280 standards. Pre-employment medical and police check are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in the rail industry is beneficial but not essential.
• Must pass a pre-employment medical check.
• Current Australian resident or valid work visa.
• C Class Drivers licence is required.
• National High Risk Work Licence for Forklift is required.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
• Ability to read drawings and fabricate to specifications.
• Welding to AS4280 standards and general mechanical fitting duties.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding of components to a finished state.
• Remove and replace worn or damaged components.
• Repair worn or damaged components.
• Ensure welding complies with AS4280 standards.
• Carry out bogie inspections.
• Metal fabrication of components.
• Read drawings and manufacture components as per drawings.
• Oxy cutting and welding; able to use plasma cutter.
• Modify components through fabrication processes.
• Manufacture brackets, fixtures, tooling and equipment.
• Perform general fitting duties.
