Qualifications

• 4+ years in software engineering with production work on a compiler or similar transformation system.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, complexity, heuristics.
• Experience with graph algorithms and approximation under constraints.
• Proficiency in Rust or C++ and Python for tooling and experiments.
• Practical compiler construction: IRs, passes, dataflow analysis.
• Ability to prove transformations using equivalence checking or testing.
• Knowledge of quantum circuit concepts and how compilers map to hardware.

Responsibilities

• Build and own stages of the compilation pipeline from logical circuit to physical placement and routing.
• Implement optimization passes to reduce gates, depth, and error rate on real hardware.
• Target the SQC ISA and keep the compiler aligned with evolving control plane.
• Solve placement and routing across wafers under connectivity and fidelity constraints.
• Implement lattice surgery and future error correction schemes with the QEC team.
• Incorporate noise models and calibration data into compilation for device compatibility.
• Develop transpiler path from OpenQASM to pulse-level instructions for sub-200 qubit devices.
• Verify transformations via equivalence checks, differential testing, and simulations.
• Benchmark compiler output across fidelity, depth, runtime, and compile-time metrics.
• Collaborate with Control & Error Correction on contract between compiler and control plane.
• Design intermediate representations and documentation for future engineers.
• Turn research results into implementable designs and push back when hardware limits clash.
