Job summary

Mott MacDonald Brisbane is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to provide cost and commercial management across a major infrastructure program. You will work with project managers and delivery partners from early cost planning through to final account.

The role emphasizes cost estimating, procurement support, contract administration and risk mitigation, with a focus on value for money and governance compliance. You'll join a diverse team of professionals delivering transport, civil and utilities

• A relevant tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, construction management or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, bills of quantities and commercial reports across project stages.
• Undertake measurement and quantification of building, civil and infrastructure works using appropriate digital tools.
• Support procurement activities, including tender documentation, tender evaluation, bid analysis and recommendations.
• Administer contracts, including payment assessments, variations, claims, compensation events and early warning notices.
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and provide accurate forecasting, cash flow and variance reporting.

Mott MacDonald's Project, Program, and Commercial Management team has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor. You will provide cost and commercial management support across a major multidisciplinary infrastructure delivery program spanning transportation and civil infrastructure and related specialist services.

Working with project managers, technical teams, clients and delivery partners, you will support work packages with the program across the full lifecycle - from early cost planning and procurement through to contract administration, financial reporting and final account. Your advice will help clients make informed decisions, manage commercial risk and achieve value for money.

• Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, bills of quantities and commercial reports across project stages.
• Undertake measurement and quantification of building, civil and infrastructure works using appropriate digital tools.
• Support procurement activities, including tender documentation, tender evaluation, bid analysis and recommendations.
• Administer contracts, including payment assessments, variations, claims, compensation events and early warning notices.
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and provide accurate forecasting, cash flow and variance reporting.
• Undertake cost benchmarking, value management, whole-of-life costing and investment appraisal activities.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support the development of practical mitigation strategies.
• Work collaboratively with clients, project managers, designers, contractors and delivery partners to support informed decision-making.
• Maintain clear commercial records and ensure work complies with Mott MacDonald's governance, quality and risk frameworks.

About You

• A relevant tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, construction management or a related discipline.
• Experience delivering quantity surveying, cost management or commercial services within infrastructure, engineering, construction or another regulated environment.
• Knowledge of pre- and post-contract quantity surveying, including estimating, procurement, contract administration and cost reporting.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contracts and commercial data.
• Experience with measurement, estimating or cost planning software, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and project teams.
• A practical approach to commercial risk, problem-solving and the delivery of accurate, high-quality work.
• Membership of, or progress towards membership with, AIQS or RICS is desirable.
• Experience working on Defence or Government infrastructure projects and familiarity with relevant security requirements would be advantageous.
