Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related discipline.
• 2+ years Australian QS experience or 7+ years Senior QS experience.

• Sound understanding of estimating, cost planning and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, cost plans and feasibility studies.
• Prepare bills of quantities using CostX and develop rate libraries.
• Support procurement and tendering activities and assess tenders.
• Prepare and maintain project cost reports and assess variations and claims.
• Assist with contract administration and final accounts.

Gleeds is seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Brisbane team. Working alongside experienced cost management professionals, you will provide commercial and cost management services across a diverse portfolio of projects within the infrastructure, sporting infrastructure, energy, health, defence, commercial and social infrastructure sectors. This role offers the opportunity to develop your career while working on complex and high-profile projects throughout Queensland and across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, cost plans and feasibility studies.
• Work with Costx to prepare bills of quantities and builders' quantities, develop and apply rate libraries and trade coding.
• Support procurement and tendering activities.
• Assess tenders and provide commercial recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain project cost reports.
• Assess variations, claims and prepare progress payment recommendations.
• Assist with contract administration and final account settlement.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Support the successful commercial delivery of projects throughout all stages of development and construction.

About you

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
• Quantity Surveyor with minimum 2 years' or Senior Quantity Surveyor with minimum 7 years' Australian experience in quantity surveying or cost management within the construction industry.
• Based in Australia, holds a valid Visa with right to work in Brisbane, Queensland.
• Sound understanding of estimating, cost planning and contract administration principles.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively within a team.
• Membership of AIQS or RICS, or working towards professional accreditation, is desirable.
• Higher levels of cost planning, estimating, procurement and contract administration expertise (Senior Quantity Surveyors).
• Experience managing client relationships and leading project cost management commissions (Senior Quantity Surveyors).
• Ability to mentor and support junior team members (Senior Quantity Surveyors).
• Commercially astute with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills (Senior Quantity Surveyors).
