Job summary

Sydney Water’s Major Projects team seeks a senior Quality Manager to lead quality assurance across high-value capital investments. You will implement and maintain the Quality Management System, ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance across the full project lifecycle, from scoping to handover.

Based in Parramatta with site-based work across Sydney Water’s area, the role demands extensive construction experience, audits, training, and strong stakeholder engagement, plus a proactive drive

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in business, engineering or related field; valid White Card.
• 10+ years' experience in quality-focused roles within large construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of quality and construction legislation; experience implementing management systems.
• Proven skills in stakeholder communication, negotiation, and problem-solving across organisational levels.
• Proactive continuous improvement and change leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and specialist quality advice across project phases.
• Implement and maintain quality management systems; conduct audits and document control.

About the role: Join Sydney Water’s Major Projects team to lead quality management and assurance across high-profile, high-value capital investments. This role is responsible for implementing and ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficiency of the Sydney Water Quality Management System, program, plans, and processes within Major Projects. You will play a key role in assuring the quality aspects of assigned major projects during the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical and specialist quality advice across project phases, including early scoping, procurement, and contractor documentation reviews.

Implement and maintain quality management systems, conduct audits, manage document control, and report on compliance and performance metrics.

Lead quality assurance activities such as site inspections, surveillance, risk assessments, and post-project evaluations to drive continuous improvement.

Investigate quality incidents, analyse root causes, and recommend corrective actions to enhance safety and performance.

Develop and deliver quality training, awareness programs, and project inductions to build capability and promote a strong quality culture.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in business, engineering or a related field, preferably with internal auditor training. Hold a valid Construction Industry Induction White Card.
• Over 10 years of experience in a quality-focused role within large construction projects and end to end project lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of quality and construction legislation, with demonstrated ability to implement and improve management systems in field-based environments.
• Proven skills in stakeholder communication, negotiation, influencing, investigation, and problem-solving across all organisational levels.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and change leadership, with the ability to embed better work practices across programs.
