Job summary

ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture in Sydney is seeking dedicated Quality Engineers with experience in electrical or civil scopes to join our growing Energy Hubs and Substations team on the Central-West Orana Transmission Project.

You will review client specifications, develop ITPs/ITCs, conduct quality audits, and oversee fabrication and supplier inspections, progressing quality documentation and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Tertiary Qualification in engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years in multidiscipline infrastructure, renewables, or substation projects.
• Quality auditor experience with ISO 9000 family.
• Ability to review statistical data to identify quality problems.
• Experience training staff on quality best practices.
• Familiarity with quality inspection tools and defect tracking software.
• Prepare and update quality documentation per ISO 9001:2008 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review client specifications and develop ITPs & ITCs reflecting client requirements.

• Provide ongoing project quality reporting to the team/client.
• Open and monitor work lots; close out in a timely manner.
• Formulate NCRs with thorough details for quick resolution.

• Develop and monitor the Project Quality Management Plan.
• Conduct off-site QA audits and inspections to verify compliance.
• Maintain the project’s quality audit schedule.
• Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Support project teams to apply quality standards daily.
• Oversee fabrication processes to meet client specs.
• Conduct cross-project quality audits across facilities.

ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.

The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.

The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.

Our Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Quality Engineers with experience in Electrical or Civil scopes to share their expertise within our growing Energy Hubs and Substations team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review client specifications and develop ITPs & ITCs that reflect the client's requirements.
• Ensure ITPs & ITCs are completed to a high level of quality, across all projects.
• Provide ongoing reporting to the project team and/or client on project quality issues.
• Ensure work lots are opened in a systematic manner, monitored, and closed out in a timely manner.
• Ensure NCRs are well formulated, thorough and provide sufficient details to enable a quick response and close out.
• Liaise with the client's quality department and attend the weekly QA coordination meetings for the Project.
• Supervise and/or carry out the detailed assessment of products and their components at different stages of production.
• Develop, implement, and monitor the Project's Quality Management Plan
• Undertake off site manufacturing audits and inspections to ensure compliance with the Project's specifications.
• Maintain the Projects quality audit schedule.
• Investigate causal issues & implement corrective actions to mitigate against repeats of the same issues.
• Provide ongoing support to the project teams to assist them implement quality standards in their day-to-day work.
• Oversee fabrication processes by both the company and subcontractors to ensure it meets client specifications.
• Conduct Quality audits across projects, the fabrication facility and supplier facilities.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Tertiary Qualification/s in engineering or related discipline
• At least 5+ years' experience in multidiscipline infrastructure, or renewable energy, or substation style projects
• Quality auditor - Quality Management Systems in accordance with ISO 9000
• Ability to review statistical data to identify quality problems
• Experience providing training in best practices to ensure that employees working in production are aware of quality requirements
• Have worked and implemented quality inspection tools and software to support the QA inspection team (eg defect / snagging tracking tool software)
• As the Quality Engineer, you must prepare and update the project's quality documentation, basing processes on AS/NSZ ISO 9001:2008 - Quality management systems - Requirements. As the Company holds accreditation to this standard, you must develop appropriate processes and train employees in this in preparation for both internal and external quality audits.

Quality Engineer positions start in our project office in Sydney CBD, with occasional site visits. Once the project is fully operational, it will transition to DIDO 14 days onsite in camp style accommodation and 7 days off site, on a roster-based arrangement out of The Central West Orana Transmission Line Project
