Job summary

CMC Markets is seeking an experienced QA Manual Test Engineer to join the Engineering & Architecture, Core Services team on a 12-month maximum-term contract. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software applications through rigorous testing and validation.

You’ll collaborate with developers, manage production releases, and support regression testing across AWS-backed backend and UI layers, shaping testing strategy in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA Manual Test Engineer experience on medium to large IT projects (within financial services).
• Strong manual testing experience, ideally within financial services.
• Experience with Jira, Git, and API testing.
• Testing across backend services and web-based UI (JavaScript).
• Testing within an AWS cloud architecture.
• ISTQB Certified Tester preferred.
• Knowledge of financial trading instruments (Shares/FX/Options/Derivatives).

Responsibilities

• Manual testing of C#/.NET applications deployed in AWS.
• Test planning and design, including test data and environment requirements.
• Creating and maintaining test plans and test scripts, ensuring proper test coverage.
• Preparing and managing test data.
• Executing test scripts, recording and analysing results.
• Logging and tracking defects and monitoring resolution.
• Analysing defects to identify root causes and provide feedback to developers.
• Preparing regular test status and completion reports.

We are looking for an experienced QA Manual Test Engineer to join our Engineering & Architecture, Core Services team on a 12 month Maximum-Term Contract. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software applications through rigorous testing and validation processes. The QA Engineer will collaborate closely with developers and other stakeholders to identify and resolve issues, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products to our clients. You will also be expected to manage production releases and support regression testing activities as part of the squad responsibilities. You’ll work on complex, high-volume systems where quality genuinely matters. This is not checkbox testing. You’ll be involved early, influencing outcomes and partnering closely with developers and stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-performing software. You’ll also sharpen your skills in a modern environment. From API and backend testing through to cloud-based systems, you’ll continue to grow your technical capability while staying hands-on in meaningful work.

What you’ll be working on?

• The role focuses on manual testing of C#/.NET applications deployed in AWS, Testing in both back-end C# server and UI JavaScript environments.
• Primary database engines you will be working on is SQL Server and writing complex queries to be used for data validation & troubleshooting.
• Test planning and design, including test data and environment requirements.
• Creating and maintaining test plans and test scripts, ensuring proper test coverage for all functional requirements.
• Preparing and managing test data.
• Executing test scripts, recording and analysing results for variance against expected outcomes.
• Logging and tracking identified defects & monitoring them through resolution.
• Analysing defects to identify what is causing them.
• Providing feedback to the development team.
• Preparing regular test status & test completion reports for progress tracking.
• Develop testing schedules to optimise the availability of testing resources.
• Perform usability testing for system performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Provides internal quality assurance.

What will help you be successful?

• Must have 5+ years of experience as a QA Manual Test Engineer on medium to large IT projects (within financial services)
• Strong manual testing experience, ideally within financial services
• Experience with Jira, Git, and API testing
• Testing experience across backend services and web-based UI JavaScript
• Testing within an AWS cloud architecture
• Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile/frequent releases environment and adapt to significant amounts of change in work assignment
• Knowledge of primary database engines (SQL Server) with a demonstrated ability to write complex queries to be used for data validation & troubleshooting
• High standard of attention to detail and tenacity
• Confidence working in Agile, fast-release environments
• Desirable: Automation testing with JavaScript like tools
• ISTQB Certified Tester
• Knowledge of financial trading instruments (Shares/FX/Options/Derivatives)
• Comfortable working in both an unstructured (ambiguity) and a highly structured (process driven) testing environment
