Job summary

Symal Group invites applications for a Quality Assurance Manager to lead QA across a major Solar and BESS project in Victoria. You will own the project Quality Management System, manage a dedicated team, and drive QA/QC across design, procurement and construction in collaboration with subcontractors, OEMs and stakeholders.

You will bring proven QA leadership on renewables, familiarity with ISO 9001 and inspection regimes, and experience auditing international OEMs.

Qualifications

• Proven Quality Assurance/Quality Management on utility-scale renewables projects.
• Experience auditing and managing quality performance of international OEMs.
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001, inspection regimes and non-conformance management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the project Quality Management System across solar, BESS, civil, electrical and HV works.
• Audit subcontractor and OEM quality systems and drive conformance to project specs and codes.
• Foster integration with Commercial and Construction Management for QA/Operational workstreams.
• Lead upstream quality with the client and JV partners and manage downstream supplier quality obligations.
• Drive corrective actions with subcontractors and international OEMs.

The role

Symal Group has entered a Joint Venture partnership with the intent to deliver a major utility-scale Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Victoria. We're seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager, with a proven track record delivering quality outcomes on renewable energy projects, to play a critical leadership role in the successful delivery of this nationally significant project. You’ll own the project’s Quality Management System, managing a dedicated support team and engaging with subcontractors, OEMs, certifying bodies and key stakeholders. You'll be responsible for developing, implementing and driving quality assurance and control outcomes across design, procurement and construction, and play a key role in supporting the operational success of the project. This is a unique opportunity to work on a project of major significance, helping shape delivery strategies and contributing to one of Australia's largest renewable energy developments.

Your everyday

• Develop, implement and maintain the project Quality Management System across solar, BESS, civil, electrical and high-voltage infrastructure works.
• Manage, monitor and report on all quality assurance and quality control activities, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
• Audit subcontractor and OEM quality systems and drive conformance to project specifications, standards and codes.
• Integrate with the Commercial Management and Construction Management teams, satisfying both Quality and Operational workstreams.
• Responsible for quality management upstream with the client and JV partners, and ensuring your team diligently manages all downstream subcontractor and supplier quality obligations.

Who are you?

• Demonstrated Quality Assurance/Quality Management experience on utility-scale renewables projects (solar, BESS, wind or transmission) is held in high regard.
• Demonstrated experience auditing and managing the quality performance of international OEM's is also held in high regard.
• Understanding and experience with electrical infrastructure, transmission or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of EPC project delivery, ISO 9001 quality systems, inspection and test regimes and non-conformance management.
• Experience managing direct reports
• Experience and ability to lead quality audits and drive corrective action close-out with subcontractors and international OEMs.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or Lead Auditor certification (e.g. ISO 9001), with excellent reporting and stakeholder management skills
