Job summary

City-Wide Building and Training Services (CWBTS) is seeking a qualified carpenter to lead, train and assess apprentices across Sydney and the Central Coast. You will coach, observe and record progress while maintaining relationships with employers and supervisors on diverse worksites.

Part-time permanent role, 31.5 hours over three days, with a $17,000 annual vehicle allowance pro rata and a clear path to full-time as enrolments grow.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment required or equivalent.
• Certificate III carpentry qualification with strong trade experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly with apprentices, employers and colleagues.
• Willingness to travel across Sydney and Central Coast regions.
• Working rights in Australia and compliance with checks as required.

Qualifications

What you will bring

Essential

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116, TAE40122 or an accepted equivalent).
• A Certificate III trade qualification in Carpentry
• Strong current or recent carpentry experience and a clear understanding of quality workmanship and safe work practices.
• The ability to communicate clearly and build rapport with apprentices, employers and colleagues.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple locations.
• Confidence using digital tools, or the willingness and ability to learn systems used for training, assessment and student records.
• Australian working rights and a willingness to travel to worksites and training venues.
• A Working with Children Check (Employee), or willingness to obtain one, and willingness to complete a Police Check and medical if required.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance training.

Highly regarded

• Experience in supervising, coaching or mentoring apprentices.
• Experience in delivering or assessing apprenticeship-based training.
• Familiarity with learning management or student record systems such as Ready Skills and Canvas.
