Job summary

Northrop Grumman Australia is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join a skilled team supporting KC-30A and C-27J platforms. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fault finding and inspections across avionics, structural and mechanical systems in a high‑performing environment.

Based in Queensland or South Australia, you will work within regulated aviation programs, contribute to safety, and collaborate with operators and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Aircraft maintenance engineer with experience in maintenance, MRO or overhaul.
• Experience in regulated aviation environments and tooling.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Based in Queensland or South Australia.

Responsibilities

Exposure may include turboprop and regional aircraft platforms, defence aviation support environments, workshop overhaul activities, component servicing, troubleshooting, testing and broader MRO functions supporting ongoing maintenance programs.

The broader work scope may include engine and component strip activities, detailed inspections, troubleshooting and defect rectification, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, workshop overhaul activities, component rebuilds, testing and support across operational environments. To be considered, you must possess:

• Demonstrated experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Aviation Technician or similar role
• Exposure across aircraft maintenance, defence aviation, MRO or overhaul environments
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
• Experience working within highly regulated aviation environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within team environments
• Current Drivers Licence
• Candidates must currently be based within Queensland or South Australia

Highly desirable:

• Exposure to turboprop or regional aircraft environments
• Experience supporting engine maintenance, overhaul and component servicing activities
• Direct exposure to Pratt & Whitney PT6 and/or Honeywell TPE331 engine platforms would be considered highly advantageous and ideal for these opportunities
• Workshop and field maintenance exposure
• Defence and/or commercial aviation experience
• Component strip, inspection, testing and assembly capability
• CASA Part 66 qualifications or relevant aviation trade qualifications

You will be working on the KC‑30A and the C‑27J aircrafts that directly support the Australian Defence Force. These platforms are critical to keeping operations moving, delivering heavy airlift into complex environments and enabling aircraft to stay airborne longer without needing to land.

You'll be hands on across either avionics, structural or mechanical systems, executing scheduled, unscheduled and defect maintenance as part of a high performing team.

You won't be boxed into one narrow task. You'll be trusted to diagnose, fix, and deliver aircraft back to service, safely and on schedule.
