About the role
We're looking for an experienced and detail-driven Purchasing Officer to join our Procurement team. In this role, you'll play a key part in managing and streamlining the purchasing and ordering of assets nationally. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you'll work closely with suppliers, branches, finance, and the wider Kennards Group to ensure stock availability, accurate purchase orders, and on-time delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Raise and manage purchase orders accurately and on time
  • Oversee purchasing activities and expedite orders as required
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with branches, area managers, accounts, and suppliers
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Handle reporting, data consolidation, and other administrative tasks
  • Assess and collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency gains
  • Review invoices, troubleshoot discrepancies, and work with Finance to resolve issues
  • Manage challenges such as shortages, damages, and non-conformances
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements

About you:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar purchasing/procurement role
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
