Job summary

Border Pumpworks in Wodonga is seeking a hands-on technician to assess, repair and maintain a range of pumps and allied equipment. Work will span on-site client locations and our workshop, with responsibilities including assessment reports and parts selection.

You will operate lathes, milling machines and welding equipment, perform fabrication as needed, and adapt to shift patterns. A strong mechanical aptitude and proactive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent mechanical aptitude with 3+ years experience, ideally in pump repair.
• Live within 50km of Wodonga/Albury.
• C class driver licence; forklift licence advantageous.
• Willingness to work shifts and after-hours if required.
• Pro-active, reliable with good time management and work ethics.

Responsibilities

• Assess, repair and maintain pumps and allied equipment on-site and in our workshop.
• Complete assessment reports and select parts required for repairs.
• Maintain workshop standards and perform general duties as needed.
• Operate lathe and milling machines; perform fabrication as required (MIG/TIG/ARC/Oxy welding).
• Assist with installation and servicing at client sites as needed.

Job description

Border Pumpworks in Wodonga (a member of the Demem Pump Group) is a highly respected,long established service provider to the Industrial Pump sector in Victoria's Northern region.

An opportunity has become available for an immediate start in our Wodonga workshop, so if you’re really self-motivated and have a 'can-do' attitude, we want to hear from you.

The position:

Your primary responsibility will be assessing, repairing and performing maintenance on pumps and allied equipment both on-site at client sites and in our workshop.

This role requires:

Working on a wide range of pumps, including centrifugal, submersible, hygienic, air operated diaphragm, progressive cavity, sewerage, vacuum etc.

Working on agitators, valves and other industrial equipment allied to the pump industry.

Completion of assessment reports.

Selection of parts required for repairs.

Other general duties to ensure workshop standards are maintained

You be proficient in the use of Lathe and Milling machines.

Fabrication work from time to time to address process or equipment maintenance, installations or problems. MIG, TIG, Arc, Oxy welding skills an advantage.

Flexibility in working hours to meet business needs, including shift patterns and facility shutdowns. Possible after-hours availability in support of our clients requirements.

Familiarity with mobile phone apps and standard computer skills.

The ability to operate a forklift safely.

Strong commitment to Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.

(Optional but beneficial) Experience with condition monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis would be an advantage.

To be successful for the role you must have:

Live within a 50km radius of Wodonga/Albury

Understood the role and its duties as listed.

A positive, pro-active attitude and be open to a changing work schedule as priorities can change quickly.

Excellent mechanical aptitude (3+ years minimum experience ideally in a pump repair role, however training will be provided to the right applicant).

Excellent time management skills and work ethics.

C class driver licence (Forklift licence would be advantageous but notessential)

Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Experience using a variety of tools including welders, grinders, drills etc.
