Job summary

Cancer Council NSW is seeking a Publishing Editor to research, write, edit and proofread up-to-date, evidence-based information for people affected by cancer. The role involves producing online and printed resources and collaborating with designers to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

The position is a fixed-term contract until October 2027, part-time four days per week, based at CCNSW in Sydney. You will contribute to multimodal formats and engage with diverse stakeholders to support informed

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in professional writing or editing, and/or extensive relevant experience.
• At least 5 years’ experience in writing, editing and proofreading health information for consumers.
• Experience in writing for web and other digital channels.
• Knowledge of print design and layout principles, and/or experience working with designers and illustrators.
• Knowledge of CMS (WordPress and/or Optimizely) or ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work across multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Revise, update and edit content for the Understanding Cancer series and other consumer information resources.
• Research, write content and collaborate with designers to develop new information resources, including Easy Read formats.
• Contribute to multimodal formats such as podcasts and videos.
• Consult with consumers, health professionals and stakeholders to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Follow governance processes and secure approvals for all stages of projects.
• Provide feedback, subediting or proofreading support to team members.
• Adhere to in-house style guides and update processes as needed.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and milestones are met.
• Assist in evaluating information resources.
