Job summary

The Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources, via ARWA, seeks an Assistant Manager, Commercial to drive commercial and legal strategies, govern risk and probity, and engage stakeholders across Canberra/Adelaide. You will coordinate with senior leaders and external partners to implement robust commercial practices and protect public interests.

Successful candidates will have significant government commercial experience, MCIPS membership, and a proven ability to work in a fluid,

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Government commercial issues.
• Experience developing strategies, business cases, policies and procedures.
• Experience seeking and interpreting legal advice.
• High level understanding of contract dispute resolution processes.
• Experience in procurement and contract management, advising stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to brief Senior Executives.
• Interpersonal skills fostering trust in a political environment.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Drive commercial and legal strategies aligned with Agency objectives.
• Manage risk, probity, stakeholder engagement and governance.
• Provide specialist advice coordinating legal, financial and technical inputs.
• Monitor performance indicators for commercial outcomes.
• Identify probity issues and recommend improvements.
• Translate business requirements into effective commercial activities.
