Job summary

Public Accountants in Toowong, Brisbane, is seeking an enthusiastic accountant to join a friendly boutique firm. You will gain exposure to a broad range of clients and entity structures, preparing financial statements and tax returns with direct client contact from day one.

You will learn from experienced accountants, develop your technical knowledge, and have opportunities to take ownership of your work in a supportive environment with ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Completed a relevant university degree in accounting or related discipline.
• Previous experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm.
• Familiarity with Excel, Handisoft and Xero/MYOB/QuickBooks.
• The ability to prepare most accounting and taxation jobs to approximately 90% completion independently, with senior review and guidance where required.
• Membership of, or be working towards, CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ or the IPA.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to engage directly with clients.
• A positive attitude, initiative and a genuine willingness to learn.
• Australian residency or unrestricted working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to a broad range of clients, industries and entity structures.
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and other compliance work.
• Have direct client contact from day one, building relationships and developing your communication skills.
• Gain valuable experience attending client meetings and explaining technical accounting and taxation matters in a practical, easy-to-understand manner.
• Develop your technical knowledge and professional confidence with guidance and support from experienced accountants.
