Job summary

Mackay Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Public Health Nurse to join the Public Health Unit at Mackay Base Hospital on a permanent basis. The role focuses on communicable disease control, immunisation issues, and outbreak response within the Mackay region.

The team collaborates across health services and government bodies to protect and improve population health. Regional, rural, and remote settings offer unique opportunities within the unit.

Qualifications

• Public health nurses deliver population-focused care in communicable disease control.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams is desirable.
• Ability to provide information and advice on immunisation and disease issues to health practitioners and community members.

Responsibilities

• Provide public health nursing services to the Communicable Disease Control section.
• Investigate cases of notifiable diseases and advise health practitioners and communities.
• Support coordinated responses to disease outbreaks in the Mackay region.
